Drives:
Here we list a selection of lovely drives within easy reach. An advised time
allocation is given for each. This allows plenty of time for driving,
sight-seeing, lunch etc. We will provide very detailed instructions when you are
here.
1. CLARE. Travel to Ennis, and on to Lahinch, a
lovely seaside town. From there, it is a short drive to the Cliffs of Moher, the
highest cliffs in Europe. Travel along by the Atlantic, through Doolin and
Fanore, viewing the Aran Islands off the coast. The next town is Ballyvaughan,
then you return south to Ennis through the Burren. Allow 6 hours.
2. BUNRATTY and LIMERICK. This trip is short on miles, but does
require plenty of time. Visit Bunratty Castle, Folk Park and shopping centre.
Allow 3 hours for this. Afterwards, you could visit King Johns Castle, St.
Mary's Cathedral, and the Hunt Museum in Limerick. If you wish to shop in
Limerick, allow another 3 hours. Total: 5-6 hours.
3. TIPPERARY. First stop the beautiful Glen of Aherlow. Continue to
Cahir Castle, then to the famous Rock of Cashel. Make a short trip across
beautiful countryside to see the restored Holycross Abbey. Allow 3-4 hrs.
4.SHANNON. Starting in Killaloe, travel the west bank of the Shannon
to Scarriff, Mountshannon, and on to Portumna. Cross the river there, and travel
down through Terryglass and Garrykennedy. Return through Ballina and visit the
lovely Clare Glens, and the peace and tranquillity of Glenstal Abbey. Allow 3-4
hours.
5. COUNTY LIMERICK. Start at nearby Lough Gur, a beautiful place
famous for archaeological remains. Continue to Croom Mills, Buttercup Farm and
on to picturesque Adare. Visit the forest park at Curraghchase, and return to
base. Allow 3 hours.

Lough Gur
6.THE RING OF KERRY. This famous drive affords you some of the most
spectacular scenery in Europe. Allow a full day.
7 DINGLE PENINSULA. Again, a famous route. The rugged scenery is
different to the Ring, but also well worthwhile. Allow one full day.
8. CORK. Visit Blarney, kiss the Stone and shop at the Woollen Mills.
Continue to Cork city. Visit Cobh, Kinsale, Midleton. A lovely varied drive.
Allow 4-5 hours.
